Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • What is the difference between soy wax and paraffin wax?

Soy Wax:

Discovered in 1991 as an alternative to paraffin wax

Natural, renewable, non-toxic and biodegradable product

Refined from the oil of soy beans

Retains fragrance better and burns 30-50% longer than paraffin

Paraffin Wax:

A petroleum by-product created from crude oil waste after gasoline refinement

Most common form of wax used in commercial candles

Cheap and economical medium for candle making

Releases different carcinogens and chemicals when burned*

  • What type of wicks do you use?

We use only 100% braided cotton core wicks

  • Is there a “proper” way to burn a soy candle?

Absolutely! The best and most effective way to burn your candle is to always trim your wick to at least ¼” prior to lighting. Just remember the HIGHS and LOWS of candle wicks: The higher the wick, the higher and hotter the flame the faster your candle burns. The lower the wick, the lower and cooler the flame the slower your candle burns.

  • What is a “Memory Burn”?

A memory burn is the crucial first burn of your new candle. When creating your memory burn allow the melted pool of wax to fully reach the outside diameter of your candle jar. This process will eliminate the occurrence of tunneling and produce a fully scented melt pool.

  • What is a “Hot & Cold Throw”?

The “Hot Throw” is the scent throw of your candle when lit whereas the “Cold Throw” is the scent thrown when your candle is unlit.

  • Do you add dyes to your candles?

No. We do not add synthetic dyes to our products. Some of our candles have been noted to have an orange or yellow appearance however the color produced in these select few candles is a direct result of natural essential oil compounds.

  • Do you sell wholesale?

Absolutely! We sell wholesale to many small businesses, boutiques and spas across the country. Please contact us directly for wholesale information.

  • Do you offer custom labeling?

Yes. Custom labeling for weddings, corporate gifts and businesses is quite common. Please contact us directly for customized labeling.
